The role
Why it’s important: We’re looking for a Senior Marketing Associate to own how Stears brings our intelligence products to market. You’ll define the messaging, positioning, and go-to-market strategies that differentiate Stears from legacy data providers and establish us as the trusted source for African private market intelligence.
You’ll sit at the intersection of Product, Sales, Marketing, and Intelligence, translating complex features and data offerings into compelling value propositions. Your work will drive customer acquisition, product adoption, and revenue growth across our customer segments.
This role is ideal for a strategic storyteller who loves transforming technical products into commercial successes.
Responsibilities
- Own positioning and messaging: Define and continuously refine how we describe our products, our value, differentiation, and benefits to prospective and current customers.
- Lead go-to-market launches: Partner with Product and Sales to plan and execute GTM strategies for new features, data sets, and research.
- Support the revenue team: Equip Sales with marketing collateral to close deals and drive expansion.
- Create compelling content: Collaborate on website copy, one-pagers, case studies, and email campaigns that clearly communicate Stears’ value to investors.
- Drive market insight: Conduct customer and competitor research to surface insights that shape product development and marketing strategy.
- Measure and optimise: Track campaign performance, lead quality, and product adoption to inform future positioning and GTM planning.
Who you will work with: This role is part of the Revenue team.
We are looking for someone with:
Required skills & qualifications: (These are the minimum requirements for the role)
- 5+ years of experience in product marketing, ideally in SaaS, data platforms, or fintech.
- Ability to distil technical or abstract concepts into clear, persuasive messaging.
- Ability to thrive in fast-paced, ambiguous environments with a high degree of ownership.
- Deeply customer-focused, whether through research, empathy, or data analysis.
- Experience working closely with Product, Sales, and/or Intelligence teams to shape strategy and execution.
Preferred skills & qualifications: (These skills & qualifications are not necessary, but will be highly valued)
- Experience in private equity, venture capital, investment banking, or financial intelligence.
- Familiarity with financial statements, valuation metrics, and corporate ownership structures.
