Los Angeles, CA, USA
Posted on Sep 7, 2023
Mahmee is on a mission to make the United States the best place in the world to give birth by providing wraparound pregnancy and postpartum care that treats the whole you, at a transparent monthly price. Our vision is equitable access to comprehensive maternal and infant healthcare for all. Mahmee is backed by some of the most well-known venture capital investors in the world, including Goldman Sachs Asset Management, Mark Cuban, Serena Williams, and Arlan Hamilton, among others.
A Care Coordinator supports our growing patient population. This job is all about advocating for new and expecting parents, identifying patients’ needs, and creating opportunities for personalized support and education that help patients stay involved and engaged throughout the pregnancy, birth, and postpartum journey.
The goal of this role is to help support families who are reaching out for help in either onboarding or appointment booking with one of our program care lines.

During your days, you'll be expected to...

  • Process physician’s orders, be in contact with outside physicians and referral partners to provide status updates on delivery of care and patient status
  • Perform transcutaneous readings with a Transcutaneous Bilirubinometer and infant weight checks with a clinical-grade infant scale (provided by the company)
  • Provide infant feeding guidance and education to parents on breastfeeding and pumping topics
  • Promptly respond to questions in the Mahmee platform and through other customer support channels, and route questions as needed
  • Run support groups for new and/or expecting parents on topics as appropriate (based on professional knowledge and skillset)
  • Offer referrals as needed to outside clinical support, community-based programs, and other resources available in the Mahmee platform.
  • Assist with in-office support as needed for breaks, vacations, sick days, and other needs when they arise, answering phone calls, booking appointments, and speaking with lactation and or our other support lines.
  • Complete the handoff of any patients, physician’s orders, and care plans to other clinical team members sharing these responsibilities on alternate shifts/workdays.

For this job, you must have...

  • A Lactation Educator (LE) or Lactation Consultant (LC) certification/degree, with prior experience in similar maternity, pediatric, or home health-related positions
  • At least 1 year of experience working in a clinical setting (e.g. hospital, clinic, doctor’s office, etc.)
  • Proof of full vaccination (Since this is a job that requires routine daily interaction with patients and providers, being vaccinated is a non-negotiable aspect of this role.)

You are a very strong candidate if you are...

  • Confident in working alongside physicians, midwives, nurses, therapists, lactation consultants, nutritionists, and other health professionals, in a collaborative fashion that supports patients’ needs and provides a comprehensive plan of care
  • A highly engaging individual with compassionate bedside manner toward new and expecting parents
  • Excellent at active listening and connecting with persons of all types of ethnic and cultural backgrounds
  • Able to remain calm and exercise judgment in unusual or stressful situations
  • Able to organize your own workday and juggle multiple assignments
  • Experience using some digital communication tools (messaging, email, video chat), and an ability to adapt to new workflows and tools

Work Schedule and Location:

  • The shift is from 9 am - 5:30 pm. We’re located in North Hollywood, and must be comfortable commuting to our office.
