MACRO is seeking an experienced, creative, detail-oriented VP or SVP of Television based in our Los Angeles office. This senior executive will report to the EVP of Scripted Television and will be responsible for the creative process, overseeing scripted television projects across all genres from inception to production, including ideation, development, sales, production, post-production process, and delivery.

The executive will also work closely with TV leadership to develop and implement strategies and initiatives to drive business growth and achieve the Television Studios objectives. The ideal candidate will have a large network of high-level relationships with talent, including writers, directors, showrunners, etc., and will have extensive proven experience developing and selling a diverse slate of programming. The executive will thrive in a highly collaborative environment but is also comfortable taking ownership of the development slate and working autonomously and is strategic and creative-minded with a track record of developing commercially successful and/or critically acclaimed original series.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience working in scripted television as a seller (production company/studio), producer, and/or buyer (network/streamer) in scripted development, current programming and/or production.
  • Deep knowledge and understanding of the marketplace, media industry dynamics, emerging trends, and the creative and business/legal process from ideation through project launch.
  • Must have proven creative instincts in ideating, developing, and selling projects and extensive experience producing successful television shows.
  • Extensive experience overseeing all creative aspects of development, production, and post-production, including the ability to manage multiple creative projects simultaneously while shepherding projects from beginning to end.
  • Capability to employ existing and relevant relationships, experience, and credibility within the entertainment industry.
  • Experience working with talent and familiarity with on-set production environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to generate new ideas and translate them into high-quality TV programs.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills; able to effectively work with internal and external teams, partners, and key stakeholders.
  • Strong time and creative resource management with the ability to multitask and prioritize multiple demands and key initiatives in a fast-paced and time-sensitive environment.
  • Deep understanding of the scripted series development and production processes with a commercial creative sensibility and understanding of how content is expressed across multiple viewing platforms.
  • A self-starter who is assertive, enthusiastic, and highly motivated with strong communication and problem-solving skills grounded in collaboration, teamwork, transparency, and accountability.

  • SET UP SERIES: Has sold multiple projects.
  • TALENT MANAGEMENT: Has managed deals.
  • UPPER-LEVEL RELATIONSHIPS: Sought out and delivered new established talent for new business.
  • CURRENT SERIES: Has supported creative in ongoing series.

Responsibilities:

Bring in new projects for development or acquisitions that align with MACRO’s brand and mission and oversee a slate of original programming and scripted television projects through all phases, from inception and deal-making to production of ongoing seasons of content.

Manage and foster industry relationships with high-level buyers, agents, producers, talent, executives, key partners, and the greater creative community.

Analyzing pitches and submissions to determine which projects are appropriate and meet the Television Studio's objectives and the marketplace's needs.

Collaborates cross-functionally with Production, Post-Production, Business & Legal Affairs, etc., to see projects through to completion.

Advise on cultural and market trends, best practices, and more to inform the creative direction of our content.

Exercise excellent creative and business judgment, track entertainment trends, keep a pulse on the industry and marketplace, and develop breakthrough original content.

Support TV leadership with departmental duties and projects as needed.
