About the team:
Our mission on the Trucking Tech Team is to make trucking efficient, reliable, and transparent for carriers, operators, and clients. We focus on building best-in-class web and mobile applications that enable seamless planning, execution, and billing experiences for our carriers and operations. By leveraging cutting-edge technology, we aim to streamline processes, reduce manual interventions, and enhance the overall user experience.
Our scope includes global contract management, optimizing truck allocations and routing, real-time tracking, and ensuring accurate billing and payouts. We are dedicated to creating efficient platforms to service and manage trucks, making the logistics process smoother and more reliable. ***This role is based in Bellevue, WA and requires in person attendance 3 times a week with flexibility to work remotely 2 days per week.***
You will:
- Design, develop, test and maintain systems that represent the real-world intricacies of logistics entities.
- Collaborate with some of the best engineers in the industry to work on complex business and technical problems.
- Architect and drive major projects while coordinating with multiple stakeholders.
- Work closely with business partners and product managers to distill complex business problems into elegant technical solutions.
- Build and launch products rapidly and incrementally. We ship to production dozens of times per day.
- Lead by example, spending most of your time building performant and reliable services.
- Guide the team's technical roadmap, pushing for the technology choices that will make our systems performant, reliable, and easy to build in.
- Ensure our products maintain a high-quality bar. We believe in anticipating issues by obsessing over metrics and applying key learnings from post-mortems to all our services.
- You play a significant role in the career development of others, actively mentoring and educating the larger software engineering community on trends, technologies, and best practices.
You should have:
- 6+ years of professional software development experience.
- Experience of building large scale, high-performance systems in a complex, multi-tiered, distributed environment.
- Knowledge of at least one programming language such as Java, Kotlin, Ruby, Python or C++.
- Understanding of database tradeoffs and ability to pick and work with the right tool for the job (SQL, NoSQL, scaling characteristics, etc)
- Experience driving inter-team technical collaboration, communication and alignment
- Experience running code reviews and mentoring engineers in a technical capacity
It’s a plus if you:
- Have experience with React
- Have experience with the AWS tech stack
- A bias for action. When you see a problem, you solve it.
- Understanding of performance tradeoffs, load balancing and operational issues.
