Job Summary

We are seeking a talented and creative Video Editor to join the team. The Video Editor will be responsible for transforming raw footage into polished, engaging content that aligns with our bold and dynamic brand identity. This role requires a keen eye for storytelling, a strong understanding of pacing and rhythm, and proficiency in editing software to create videos that captivate our audience. The Video Editor will collaborate closely with directors, producers, and the Director of Photography to deliver high-quality content across various platforms.

Key Responsibilities

• Video Editing: Edit raw footage into compelling videos, including branded campaigns, vlogs, and short-form social media content, ensuring alignment with the overall creative vision.
• Storytelling: Craft narratives through editing that enhance the emotional impact and engagement of the content, incorporating music, sound effects, and visual effects as needed.
• Post-Production Collaboration: Work closely with the Director of Photography, colorists, and sound designers to ensure visual and audio consistency, including color grading, audio mixing, and motion graphics integration.
• Asset Management: Organize and manage raw footage, audio files, and project assets to maintain an efficient workflow and meet project deadlines.
• Platform Optimization: Tailor edits for specific platforms (e.g., YouTube, TikTok, Instagram) by adjusting aspect ratios, lengths, and pacing to maximize audience engagement.
• Creative Input: Provide creative suggestions during pre-production and post-production to enhance the overall quality and impact of the content.
• Quality Control: Review edits for technical accuracy, including smooth transitions, proper pacing, and adherence to brand guidelines, ensuring a professional final product.
• Trend Awareness: Stay updated on the latest editing trends, techniques, and social media content styles to keep Hard Scope’s videos fresh and relevant.
• Versatility: Demonstrate adaptability by taking on diverse editing projects and scaling skills to meet the rapidly evolving needs of the business, contributing to the growth and expansion of production capabilities

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in film, media production, or a related field preferred but not required with equivalent experience.
• Experience: 2-4 years of professional experience as a Video Editor, with a portfolio showcasing work in digital media, gaming, esports, or short-form content.
• Technical Skills:
• Proficiency in editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or DaVinci Resolve.
• Experience with motion graphics and visual effects software (e.g., Adobe After Effects, Cinema 4D) is a plus.
• Knowledge of audio editing tools (e.g., Adobe Audition, Audacity) for basic sound mixing.
• Familiarity with color grading and correction techniques.
• Willingness to learn new tools, software, and emerging technologies to stay ahead in a rapidly evolving digital media landscape.
• Creative Skills: Strong storytelling ability, with an understanding of pacing, rhythm, and visual flow to create engaging content.
• Attention to Detail: Keen eye for detail to ensure seamless transitions, clean cuts, and polished final products.
• Time Management: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple projects, and meet tight deadlines without compromising quality.
• Collaboration: Strong communication skills to work effectively with creative teams and incorporate feedback from directors and producers.
