Evity is developing an innovative knowledge and learning platform that will unlock exciting new possibilities in healthcare, especially around preventative health and equitable access to longer, healthy lives.

As Evity’s principal backend server engineer, you will be architecting and implementing the backend services for our advanced, AI-driven learning platform. These backend services will support scaled-out content curation/creation from Evity’s community of experts at scale; high-performance generative AI that fuels both content creation and end-user experiences; and user-facing applications.

You’ll be a key member of our overall organization, working closely with full stack engineers, application engineers, QA, product, and operations. This role has potential for future growth in both technical and team leadership, as Evity scales.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect and lead implementation of Evity’s back-end services and infrastructure
• Collaborate across product, content curation, user research, engineering, and QA disciplines - contributing to design and requirements; soliciting and incorporating feedback; integrating workflows; and implementing tools to assist those functions
• Align internal development efforts with technology developed by external partners
• Contribute to company, organization, and technology strategy

Required qualifications

• Experience developing applications as a service from concept to production
• Experience building cloud-based backend services from scratch, including development, testing, deployment, and dev-ops
• Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills (written and verbal)
• Ability to self-start initiatives where they are needed
• Demonstrates leadership in engineering and organizational processes
• Experience in agile, lean environments
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or equivalent experience demonstrated through a portfolio of shipped products

Preferred qualifications

• Experience in web, health, or large-scale platform applications
• Experience working with large-scale datasets
• Experience with generative and predictive AI concepts and technologies
• Experience delivering backend services at scale
• Understanding of data privacy and security best practices
• Understanding of design thinking and customer centric product development
