Coval
Simulation & Evaluation that scales voice and chat AI agents
Solutions Engineer
About the role
The role
As a Solutions Engineer, you are the technical partner in every deal. You will run discovery with the sales team, build pilots and proofs of concept that show Coval in action, and convert opportunities into long-term customers. You will work closely with our CEO, sales, and engineering teams, and your feedback from the field will shape the product roadmap.
What you'll do
- Lead technical discovery with prospects to understand their agent architecture (STT, LLM, TTS, telephony, orchestration frameworks) and their testing and quality gaps
- Deliver tailored demos that connect Coval's Simulate, Observe, and Human Review capabilities to each customer's use case
- Scope, build, and run proofs of concept: set up simulations, design test scenarios and personas, define evaluation metrics, and present results
- Integrate Coval with customer stacks via our APIs, SDKs, and partner platforms (e.g., voice infrastructure and agent-building platforms)
- Answer security, architecture, and technical questionnaires during the sales process
- Bring structured product feedback from the field to engineering and product, and help prioritize what gets built
- Build reusable assets: demo environments, POC playbooks, sample evaluation suites, technical docs, and integration guides
- Support partner and co-sell motions with technical enablement for partner teams
- Represent Coval at conferences, workshops, and customer events
What we're looking for
- 5+ years in a customer-facing technical role (solutions engineer, sales engineer, forward-deployed engineer, technical account manager) or as a software engineer who enjoys working with customers
- Hands-on coding ability in Python and/or TypeScript; comfortable with REST APIs, webhooks, and debugging integrations
- Working knowledge of LLMs and how AI applications are built: prompting, tool calling, evaluation, and common failure modes
- Clear communicator who can explain technical tradeoffs to engineers and business value to executives
- Track record of running POCs or technical evaluations that led to closed deals
- Experience selling to enterprise buyers, including security reviews and procurement
- Comfortable with ambiguity and building process from scratch at an early-stage startup
Nice to have
- Experience with voice AI: speech-to-text, text-to-speech, real-time audio, latency optimization, or telephony (SIP, WebRTC, contact center platforms)
- Familiarity with voice agent frameworks and platforms (e.g., Pipecat, LiveKit, Vapi, Retell) or major contact-center vendors
- Background in QA, test automation, ML evaluation, or observability tooling
About Coval
What Coval Does
Coval is the simulation and evaluation platform for voice AI. We help companies answer the question most can't: do their voice agents actually work? Not in a demo. At scale, in production, with real users.
Most teams building voice agents are flying blind. They ship a demo that works, deploy it, and discover weeks later that 40% of conversations are failing. No evaluation infrastructure. No way to catch regressions before users do.
We built Coval because we've seen this movie before. Brooke led evaluation infrastructure at Waymo, where it takes millions of simulated miles before a vehicle touches a public road. Voice agents need the same rigor. Right now, almost nobody has it.
Nine people, backed by YC, closing six-figure enterprise deals with Fortune 500 companies, growing revenue 10x year over year. The space is moving fast. We're at the center of it.
What It's Like Here
We work in-person in SoMa, San Francisco. The office is shoes-off, full of plants, and dog-friendly. We bike, hike, skate, and run half-marathons together.
The team comes from Waymo, Zoox, Apple, and Google. We're hard on our work but never hard on each other. We ship on Sundays because we want to, not because someone told us to. We move at AI speed: what used to take weeks happens in hours.
Our operating principle is "wholesome and unhinged." We are relentless about making things happen, but we don't take ourselves too seriously. If you thrive in ambiguity, move fast, and want to be one of the first people building the sales foundations at a company that's already closing Fortune 500 deals, this is it.
Voice AI is where the market is going. We're already there. This is the best time to join.
