Additive Manufacturing Technician

About the Role

We're hiring someone to own additive manufacturing (AM) at Aeon. Our engineering team utilizes additive manufacturing constantly — prototypes, fixtures, tooling, and test hardware — and we need one person responsible for making that work well: running the machines, keeping them calibrated, managing materials, and getting 3D printed parts to engineers quickly and correctly.

Today that's FDM, SLA, and SLS. As programs mature, we expect the scope of additive manufacturing to also cover low-rate production of select parts, and we'll add processes as the need justifies them. You'll be the one who evaluates, installs, and qualifies whatever comes next.

This is a hands-on role in a small shop. You'll have real say in how it's set up and run.

What You'll Do

• Operate and maintain the printer fleet across FDM, SLA, and SLS; perform preventive and corrective maintenance
• Review incoming geometry and give engineers useful feedback on printability, orientation, tolerance, and material choice — and implement the changes they ask for
• Manage the print queue, working with engineers to set priority when capacity is tight
• Build a simple, workable system for print requests and for tracking CAD and sliced files
• Manage consumables inventory — filament, resin, powder, plates, and supplies — including proper filament drying and powder handling
• Perform and document material and equipment calibrations so results are repeatable
• Maintain the AM areas and procure the tools and accessories you need; you'll set up the workspace as you see fit
• Learn new AM processes as we bring them on
• Post-process parts. This includes de-powdering and media blasting SLS parts, washing, curing and sanding SLA parts, and removing supports from FDM printed parts.

What You Bring

Required

• Hands-on experience operating and maintaining FDM and SLA printers
• Solid grasp of slicer software, print parameter tuning, and print failure troubleshooting
• SLS experience, or the ability to get up to speed on our machine quickly — powder handling and post-processing are part of the job from day one
• Willingness to learn additional processes as the shop grows
• Comfortable working directly with design engineers
• Self-directed and organized — you'll be defining and controlling how the AM operation runs
• Flexibility to work extended hours when program schedules require it

Preferred

• Industrial AM experience. Including high-performance FDM printing (materials like Ultem, PEEK, PPSU, etc.), MJF, and SLM technologies.
• CAD proficiency sufficient to model fixtures, custom supports, and shop aids
• Ideas about efficiency — tooling, workflow, or process changes that get parts out faster and cleaner
• Keeps current on AM technology and implements technology and process advancements.
